Here the updated turntables skins. What's new: Buttons are incorporated better into the turntables elements. Winamp for Android is an application that will allow you to listen to your favorite music directly from your mobile phone by previously importing your iTunes library or any playlist from your computer. Additionally, the program includes thousands of SHOUTcast radio stations that you will be able to listen to at any moment through WiFi or 3G.

I just came across these plugins the other day while checking out Winamp 5. After extensive comparisons and tests I decided that Winamp 5 is no good, actually I’m always strongly opposed to getting the newest version of a software while the older version still works… Because new versions almost always take up a significantly larger amount of your physical memory/disc space/system resource, while not being able to bring about effective, practically useful functions, which the older version doesn’t already have. So, why bother with the newest version while the old one still works? At least that’s what I’ve always believed, maybe just trying to come up with a plausible explanation for nostalgic fashion phobia but whatever…

Well, after all the trouble with Winamp 5, I got rid of it and installed my old Winamp 2.95 back on, but I decided to keep the DFX Audio Enhancer because it’s really worth keeping. Let me put it this way, if you are not in the habit of listening to music on your computer then this is not worth your time; but if you are, then this is definitely a cool thing worth trying out, because just like what is said in the manual, it does really make your music sound a lot better. 🙂

I’ve compiled all three Enhancers (for Winamp, Windows Media Player, RealNetworks respectively) into one .rar archive, and uploaded the package to the following address:

Installation Instructions:

a) Download the package, save it to your hardisc.

b) Double-click on the package icon to open it with WinRAR (Obviously you must have WinRAR installed). You can see three sub-packages, respectively containing the DFX plugins for Winamp, WMP and Real. Click on the “Extract To” icon on the WinRAR interface to extract the sub-packages to a specific folder… OR, you can just right-click on the package called “DFX package” and choose “Extract Here”.

c) Go to the folder into which you’ve just extracted the sub-packages and right click on an archive of your choice (i.e. either Winamp, WMP or Real), this will bring up a menu, then choose “Extract to *”. By doing this WinRAR will create a new directory with the name of the original archive, and extract the contents of the archive into this new directory.
“*” stands for the name of the specific archive.
d) Go to the abovementioned new folder, and you can see two (or maybe more) files in it (In case you see a single folder, double click on it to enter the folder until you see the file icons), double click on the .exe file named “dfxinstall-WMP” (or “dfxinstall-Winamp”/”dfxintall-Real” depending on your choice) to install the DFX Plugin.

e) After installation, go to the same folder where the dfxinstall file is, and double click on the .exe file named “KeyGen”. This will bring up a pinkish fancy shaped window titled “CORE”, hit the “GENERATE” button, then close it.

f) The KeyGen program should have created a new .reg file in the same folder, double click on it to import the information it contains into your registry. (In some cases certain system facilities might have changed your system settings so when you double click on a .reg file, the system would open it with Notepad rather than import it into the registry, this is done for security reasons. If unfortunately this happens to be the case, you have to type “regedit” in the Run box, bring up the regedit tool, then import manually)

g) Open up your media player, you’ll notice that a DFX Audio Enhancer window is launched along with it. The interface of the Enhancer is pretty self-explanatory, if you have any questions, consult the manual by clicking on the “Help” button then choose “Manual”. After adjusting all the parameters to achieve the desired effect, you can try to switch on/off the Enhancer by clicking on the green “Power” button on the Enhancer interface to make a clear comparison, then you’ll realize that the DFX Enhancer does indeed greatly increase the performance of your media player.

I believe that almost everybody using a PC knows anything about Winamp. Well, just for the record, Winamp has a lot of cool features which make it an extremely valuable and versatile media player.
Among it's countless features I liked the following: you can synchronize your Media Library with your portable media player: compatible with iPod, Creative, and Microsoft Plays For Sure devices. A feature which I personally liked is the Predixis Smart Playlist Generator to list your songs according to the way they sound. The program has lots of customizable components: Winamp Agent, Library, modern Skin Support, User Interface extensions, Audio file support, video file support, visualizations, extra audio output/effect support. You can associate it with audio, video, audio CDs, playlist files.
Automatic download and install codecs and libraries also available.
Other cool features include: Dynamic AJAX Internet Media Hub, gapless MP3 playback, multi-user profile options, remembers your previous installer settings, right-to-left playlist display. You can install the toolbar and control Winamp from your browser and have access to Shoutcast radio. With eMusic you can get one free audiobook and 50 free MP3's during the trial period.
Since it's an extremely friendly media player, Winamp give you the freedom of choosing one of of the thousands of skins available for download; it also incorporates a powerful graphic equalizer which includes lots and lots of predefined presets or gives you the possibility to save your own.
Pluses: Winamp is free, easy to use and features integrated SHOUTcast Radio & TV.
Drawbacks / flaws: If you want to Rip to HE-AAC at >128k bitrate, burn CDs Faster - Up to 48x or rip/encode Music into aacPlus, AAC, MP3, and WMA you need to buy Winamp.
In conclusion: Download, install and enjoy listening to music or viewing your favorite movies.
